God is oh so good! Blog Carnival

by MB

Welcome to the March 27, 2010 edition of the Christian Encouragement Blog Carnival.  One of the bloggers left a message with his submission.  He said “God is oh so good”.  I can’t help but think of this as I put together this carnival.  All of these posts reflect how God is “oh so good”.  I hope that as you read them, your heart is stirred into worshiping the One and only God – Jesus Christ our Lord.   Remember His holy name this Passover season.  He deserves to be revered every day, but let’s sit back and take time to ponder all He is and has done.  With that said, this Edition is our 3rd and will be called “God is oh so good”.

Barry Wallace presents Forgiveness and Corrie Ten Boom posted at who am i?.  Barry discusses one of my favorite suffering saints, Corrie Ten Boom.  He says, “Corrie lost her freedom, her dignity, and her beloved sister and father in the span of a few months in those concentration camps.  In God’s providence Corrie was released due to a clerical error, just one week before the other women in Ravensbruck her age were executed.

Siobhan McGirr presents Even Super Moms Need God’s Help posted at A Christian Mommy.  She reflects on the need to do things on our own and asking for God’s help.  She states, “Whether you pride yourself on having it all together or feel like you should be on the next episode of Supernanny, you cannot be the mom God wants you to be all by yourself.

Tom Gilson writes The Hole In My Mission posted at Thinking Christian.  “I’m not sure I should have read this book. Now I’m going to have to do something about it. I’m working in missions, but there’s a hole in my mission, shaped like a needy person or population God wants me to help.”  What book is that?  The Hole in our Gospel by Richard Stearns.  He talks about some of the eye opening things he has learned from this book and how his life has changed because of it.

Andrew Hawkes presents What’s Important? posted at hawkes – hfl . This 22 year old Missionary shows us his world as he helps the survivors of Haiti.  “I am currently 1 of 2 men writing a proposal to the Canadian Government in hopes of rebuilding the Christian Vocational School that was destroyed because of the earthquake. The vocational school was in a sense the heartbeat for many in the area.  With all programs in place, we seek to directly affect over 11,000 people in the upcoming year alone.”  I loved the pictures that he posted on his blog. Thanks for opening our eyes Andrew!

Bible SEO blogs Inspirational Bible Verses: Verse for Every Season posted at BibleSEO Blog, saying, “This article features collection of some of the inspirational bible verses. It offers encouraging and inspiring verses for various situations.”

Sarah Harmony-Powell presents Let Go & Let God posted at Love, Family, Relationships, Life.  Sarah offers true encouragement to those who are feeling like she is, “Sometimes my life baffles me … I think, “how did I get here?”, “why am I am in these situations?” or, “I just don’t get it God.” Sometimes I look into the mirror and wonder when I became who I am today.”  She offers insights and encouragement for those facing hard times.

Roy Twogood Jr. writes The Great Prayer Project posted at OLIN e-Book e-Publishing, saying, “This project is seeking to have every moment of every day, of one year a person praying for the end of the accepted murder of unborn children/abortion! Because we all are too busy and have many responsibilities, one small group could not have time to prayer for every moment of one full year, so they have broken up the hours into twenty minute segments. All one need do is to pick the time and date that they will pray for twenty minutes for the end of abortion.”  I know you all have 20 minutes…so go sign up!

Anthony Delgado blogs Critical Elements for the Formation of Convictions posted at eInquisitive.  His blog begins with this, “I believe that there are three important elements of the soul which are all critical to the formation of beliefs. All Christians must make an effort to put these into balance.”  I like how this post focuses on how we think but then puts it right back on God.  God is the focus.

Xamuel presents Why Does God Let Bad Things Happen? posted at Xamuel.com, saying, “My take on one reason why God lets evil exist in the world.”   Not sure I agree with this post, but its worth a read to form your own opinions.  When I read this article, I was reminded of the story of Job.  When Job’s wife told him to curse God for bringing him trouble (and yes, I believe God does ordain “bad” things for His glory), Job said (Job 2:10) “Shall we accept good from God, and not trouble?”  What’s your take?

BWL blogs 3 Things Moses teaches us about money posted at Christian PF. He states “One of my favorite highlights in Hebrews 11 is about Moses, the great leader of Israel who helped orchestrate the exodus out of Egypt, and the writer of the first five books of the Bible known as the Pentateuch.” Moses and Money? You have to check this one out.

Aaron Travis writes the sound of silence posted at themuse(ic)ian.  In his blog post, he shares “Many of us try to fill our lives with sound – a television on in the background, an iPod in our ears, a radio on our commute, even “white noise” to put us to sleep.  Sound is a beautiful thing. However, in our pursuit of sound, I wonder if we have lost the discipline of silence.  Perhaps some of us are even fearful of the silence?”  Good points Aaron. And with that, I think in our silence, we should keep Christ as the focus and remember Him in our lives this day.

That concludes this edition. Submit your blog article to the next edition of Christian Encouragement using our carnival submission form. Past posts and future dates can be found on the blog carnival index page.
